No, Mels Antique Jewelry does not have a retail store and we do not have retail prices! If you are not comfortable buying something without seeing it first, you can purchase an item with the right to return it. You must pay for the item first and, if upon inspection, the item is not what you expected, you can return it for a refund. The only fees you will be responsible for are the shipping fees both ways. We have not had an item returned yet as the jewelry looks even better in person than in the photos!
Do you offer a payment plan?
Yes. Please inquire about the specific item that you are interested in. Call 305-793-1717 or or email Mel.
Do you offer ring sizing?
Yes. The fee ranges from $30 - $50 and will delay the shipping up to one week.
What is the difference between ‘antique’ and ‘estate’ jewelry?
The term ‘estate’ basically means previously owned and refers to the items that were made from 1950 to present. These items that are not old enough to be classified as ‘antique’ and do not come from the original period for that specific style of jewelry. For example, an antique art deco ring would have originally been made during the 1920-30’s. However, art deco designs were also made decades later. These items would then be referred to as ‘estate art deco’ and could have been made anytime after 1950.
Do you give appraisals and/or certificates with the jewelry?
No. It is in the better interest of the buyer to get a third party appraisal since any seller will tell you that your item is worth what you paid for it. We do guarantee though, that should you decide to have one of our items appraised or certified, the appraisal or certificate will meet or exceed our offered price and stated quality. Our prices are far below retail and most items get appraised at 30% - 200% higher than our selling price. Please be aware that an antique jewelry item must be appraised by an antique jewelry establishment and not a modern jewelry store.
